Social Bicycles does not currently offer a retrofit product for consumer bicycles. Competing approaches that utilize a locking technology with consumer bicycles are often cheaper but more disposable. Consumer bicycles are not designed for 24/7 outdoor storage, or for the rigors of public usage. As a result, while it is a lower upfront investment, consumer bicycles are more expensive to maintain, wear down more quickly, do not provide appropriate universal size, and lack a comfortable urban riding posture.
