Using Existing Infrastructure

With Social Bicycles, operators define stations by drawing GPS coordinates on our software platform, creating "geo-fenced" stations. The system knows when a bike is inside a station through the on-board GPS on each bicycle.

If your system area has existing groups of bike racks or bike corrals, this pre-existing infrastructure can also be "geo-fenced" to become recognized as a hub/station in the software platform. This enables operators to leverage currently installed infrastructure where appropriate. We recommend installing signage at such locations to inform the public and to display safety, customer service, and nearby station information.
